Maxim Gorkiy goes for scrap

The Russian owned 1967-built steam turbine powered cruise ship Maxim Gorkiy is to be scrapped after all, at India’s Alang Beach, after a new buyer for the ship couldn’t be found. The vessel, which had been on charter to Germany’s Phoenix Seereisen for many years, was expected to be sold for conversion into a floating hotel in Hamburg, but the deal fell through at the last moment.
