Following the official opening last week of the permanent cruise berth at Cape Liberty Cruise Port in Bayonne, New Jersey, the port is now looking for Federal funding for the construction of a second berth.
The first berth at Bayonne is 1,400ft long, with an alongside water depth of 50ft. In just five years Cape Liberty Cruise Port has handled more than 1.5m passengers on more than 300 homeport calls. With Celebrity Cruises resuming Bermuda sailings in 2010 and RCI’s Explorer of the Seas continuing year-round operations, Bayonne could become one of the busiest US East Coast cruise ports.
