Redoubt Eruption Delays Oil Terminal Drawdown

United States — Saturday (4/4) morning as workers took steps to begin removing 6 million barrels of oil from Alaska's Drift River Oil Terminal, Mount Redoubt unleashed its largest eruption yet. The explosion sent ash 50,000 feet high and unleashed a flash flood through the terminal. According to the U.S. Coast Guar,d 13 workers moved to nearby safe havens. 
The planned drawdown of oil is on hold at least until Monday. A generator necessary to pump out the oil was damaged in the flood and must be repaired.

The Coast Guard is moving equipment into place in case the two oil containment tanks fail and there is a spill.
