Somalia: Weekend Somali Piracy Recap

Over the weekend there were several piracy incidents around the Horn of Africa. On Saturday, the Dutch navy apprehended seven pirates and freed 20 captive fishermen after following the hijackers to their mothership.
Also, on Saturday NATO forces from Canada, the U.S. and UK thwarted an attack on the Norwegian-flagged tanker MV Front Ardenne, and captured the suspected pirates.
In both these incidents the pirates were detained, questioned, disarmed and set free.
Unfortunately there was at least one successful hijacking Saturday. The Belgium-registered cargo ship, the Pompei was seized just north of the Seychelles with a crew of 10. The ship is being taken towards Somali waters.

There is no excuse for piracy! The people of Somalia must be made to understand that. If they cannot or will not end it then they must pay the price. If Somalia has been mistreated by other nations (fishing/dumping) then it’s time for the BS artists in the UN to get busy and fix the problem. But, until then piracy is not an option that can be put up with.
Escorts are a tough problem. Look at the size of the area in question. Then the number of merchant ships and the distance between them if they are not in convoy. This makes an escort per merchant impossible. However, an Q ship/Mother ship tending a squadron of swift boats using satcom, GPS, wire guided missiles, 20mm Gatling gun, 50 cal sniper rifles, a flame thrower (don't fire to windward!), star light sights and a laptop/satcom recever to copy "Gods EYE VIEW" from AWACS or HAWKEYE aircraft. Now Mr. you can't stop me pirate, want to dance? We'll be glad to teach you the steps!
Re: Musi This pirate should be made an example. No half measures,
prove beyond any doubt to the people of Somalia that permitting
pirates to operate from that country will cost them a price to high to pay.
